What is the purpose of the fob being attached to the child’s school bag?
The purpose of the fob that is being attached to the child’s school bag is to automatically tag and notify the parent / legal guardian that the student has embarked / disembarked the school transport.
Does the fob contain personal detail?
No. The fob only contains a unique number that is printed on the fob.
Does the fob track its current location 24x7?
NO, the fob is NOT a tracking device. The fob works once the student boards / disembarks the authorised School Transport vehicle.
How and when does the fob work?
Once the student gets onto the vehicle, together with the fob attached to the school bag, the bus reader tags the fob automatically (contactless technology). The timestamp and actual location of the bus (bus reader and not the fob) will send this information to the administrative system that is managed by the School Transport Unit which will push the embark / disembark notification to the parent/guardian.
If the child uses the same bag for other activities, would the child be tracked?
NO. The fob is not a tracking device and the bus readers are only active during school morning and afternoon pickup and drop-off times.
Can it be washed?
YES. The used fob is robust and waterproof. The schoolbag, together with the fob, can be washed.
What happens if the main school bag is not used?
If the main school bag is left at home, parents/guardians is aware that the notification of embark and disembark of their child will not be sent. In Scholastic Year 2019 / 2020, additional fobs will be available to be purchased by the Parent / Legal Guardian.
What should I do if the school bag is changed or request to remove the fob?
Parent/guardian must liaise with the respective Office of the College Principal to remove the fob from old school bag and place the same fob on the new bag (if applicable).
What should I do if the fob is lost, broken, stolen or I would like an an additional fob?
Parent/Guardian must liaise with the respective Office of the College Principal to provide a replacement or additional fob. Additional fobs will be made available for purchasing in the Scholastic Year 2019/2020.
How do I download the App?

How do I log into the App?
Please make sure you are connected to the internet. Then, use the same email and mobile number you had provided in the consent form. If you do not remember the details, please call us on 25988410.
What are the app functions?
Parents/Guardians will be receiving a notification once the child boards or disembarks from the vehicle. It will also indicate the pickup and drop – off point on the map.
What if I don’t have access to a Smart Device?
There is a possibility to receive notification by SMS on your mobile phone. You also have the option to opt-out and not receive any notifications.
What happens if I change my mobile phone or need to log in from a secondary device?
You need to use the same credentials as the first device.

Can someone read any information from the fob?
No, the fob only contains a number and no other information.
How many notification will I receive? Do I have to pay to receive these notification?
You will receive 4 notifications in a day. A notification will be sent when your child gets on the authorised school transport to go to school and one when the child gets off when s/he gets to school. In the afternoon, a notification will be received once the student boards the authorised school transport from the school and then when s/he goes down from the vehicle at the respective drop-off point.
There are no charges for partents/guardians in downloading the app and in receiving notifications.
Will I be able to know if my child is playing truant and/or is not attending school?
No. This system is not a tracking system and thus once the student is not on the authorsied school transport the device will not work.
What do I stand to gain?
Worrying about whether your child has embarked/disembarked the authorised school transport or whether your child is on the way home is a thing of the past. Now you will know when your child is on the way to school and on the way home through a notification.

Since the FOB is attached to my child’s school bag, does the child need to remove the bag to be read?
No, the RFID reader has a specific range that will tag the FOB that is attached to the bag. It is important that the FOB is attached on the top part of the bag.
Would I be able to know whether other children have embarked or disembarked from the school transport?
No, as a Parent / Legal Guardian, you will not have access to any other child except for your own children.
Are there any health hazards emanating from the fobs?
Fobs are in accordance to EU Commission Decision 2006/804/EC, paragraph 7 states:
“The use of spectrum is subject to the requirements of Community law for public health protection in particular Directive 2004/40/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (1) and Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC (2). Health protection for radio equipment is ensured by conformity of such equipment to the essential requirements pursuant to the R&TTE Directive.”
